Matt McCutcheon was turning onto Route 45 in Silver Lake when he struck a car on the highway around 10 p.m. Friday, according to the police report. No one was injured in either car.

Responding officers said they found McCutcheon, 46, standing outside his black Honda when they arrived. He was swaying and almost lost his balance as he pulled out his wallet and showed his police badge, according to the police report.

Grayslake police chief arrested for DUI after crash in Kenosha

The fire chief of Westmont has been placed on paid administrative leave in the wake of his arrest on a DUI charge last week, authorities said.

Frank Trout allegedly hit a parked car in the 3900 block of Adams Street in unincorporated DuPage County near Westmont at 6:15 p.m. Friday, according to Dawn Domrose of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department.

Trout was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving too fast for conditions and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, Domrose said. He was released from custody after paying a $100 bond about 11 p.m. Friday, she said.

Authorities say a driver has crashed his car into the wall of a Chicago police station on the city’s South Side.

No injuries or major damage was reported after the vehicle careered into a cement wall near the Gresham Police District police station .

Chicago police spokeswoman Amina Greer said the driver in a 1987 Chevy allegedly hit a tree and a barrier on the side of the station.

Battling a drunk-driving arrest, ex-Chicago Blackhawks star Chris Chelios won a key legal victory Wednesday that likely means the DUI charge against him will be dismissed.

Westmont police lacked probable cause to arrest Chelios following a Dec. 28 traffic stop, DuPage County Judge Cary Pierce ruled after viewing a 15-minute police videotape showing the Dec. 28 traffic stop and sobriety tests that led to the DUI charge.

The ruling clears the way for Chelios to formally ask that the DUI charge be tossed out — a request his attorney expects will be granted.

“The case is over,” said defense attorney Terry Ekl. “This video is as clear cut as possible that he was not impaired by alcohol.”
