Edelweiss Tavern, a neighborhood bar at 3808 W Belmont Ave, has been pouring drinks in Avondale since 2009. The small storefront sits between Hamlin and Avers Avenues, on the edge of Logan Square, and keeps things simple: pool, darts, a jukebox and cheap drinks.
The bar runs in-house pool leagues affiliated with the American Poolplayers Association, with teams of up to seven players, and offers free billiards on Sundays and Mondays. Karaoke runs Fridays from 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 p.m. until close, backed by a song catalog the bar says tops 100,000 tracks. PBR bottles are $2, and anyone celebrating a birthday month who brings five friends drinks free.
The tavern is run by owners Oksana and Sergiy, according to the tavern’s website, which describes it as a low-key neighborhood pub with a chill vibe.
Edelweiss Tavern is open Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3 a.m. Check current hours and contact information at edelweisstavern.net or by calling (773) 293-7707.
