About NewsChicago

NewsChicago.net covers the businesses that make Chicago’s neighborhoods worth exploring: the new coffee shop on Damen Avenue, the family-run restaurant on Lincoln Avenue, the venue that just opened above Randolph Street.

Chicago has 77 community areas and more than 200 neighborhoods, and new businesses open in them every week. Most of them never get written up. We think they should be.

What we feature

We look for businesses that are opening, expanding or bringing something new to their block. Restaurants and cafes, bars and venues, shops, studios, gyms and services. Independent places and local favorites, in every part of the city.

Each feature covers what the business does, where it is and why it is worth a visit, with its photos, its logo, a link to its website and a map. Every feature is filed under its neighborhood, so readers can see what is new in Bucktown, the Loop, Lincoln Square or Old Town in one place.

How it works

  • Features are free. No payment, no advertising deal, nothing to sign up for.
  • Facts come from the business. We write from the business’s own website and official pages, not from rumors or reviews.
  • We keep it accurate. If something changes or something is wrong, we update the article.

Was your business featured?

Congratulations. You were picked because your business is adding something to your neighborhood.

  • Share it. Post your feature on Instagram or Facebook, or link to it from your website.
  • Keep it current. Send new hours, menu items, photos, events or news and we will add them.
  • Tell us if something is wrong. We will fix it.

Send the name and neighborhood to john@newschicago.net. New openings, local favorites, places your block would miss if they were gone.
