Margie’s Candies Brings Sundaes and Hand-Dipped Chocolates to Montrose Avenue in Ravenswood

Margie’s Candies, the Chicago confectionery that has been hand-dipping chocolates and scooping sundaes since 1921, operates a second location at 1813 W. Montrose Ave. in Ravenswood, alongside its original Western Avenue shop. The business has remained family-owned across four generations.

The Montrose Avenue shop carries the full Margie’s menu, including the Turtle Sundae and its oversized “World’s Largest Terrapin” version, banana splits topped with hot fudge or chocolate marshmallow, thick malts and milkshakes, and ice cream sodas and root beer floats. Hand-dipped chocolate assortments — turtles, caramels, chocolate-covered cherries and fudge — are sold by the half-pound, along with English toffee made with real butter.

Margie’s Candies lists both locations and its full menu on its website.

The Montrose Avenue location is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; current hours and the menu are posted at margiescandies.com.
