Benjyehuda, a fast-casual falafel and shawarma shop, operates a location at 10 S LaSalle St in the Loop, inside the building’s retail concourse. The name combines owner Benjy Rosen’s first name with Ben Yehuda, the well-known pedestrian street in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and the business has been serving the Loop lunch crowd since 2009.
The menu is built around falafel, gyro, chicken shawarma and steak shawarma, served in a warm pita, over a bowl of basmati or lemon-dill rice, or on a romaine salad. Toppings are included at no extra charge, among them hummus, baba ganoush, Jerusalem salad and pickles, with fries and lentil soup as sides.
The LaSalle Street location is open Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and serves weekday lunch hours only. Benjyehuda also has three other Chicago locations, at 300 S Wacker Dr, 145 N Wells St, and 500 W Madison St at Ogilvie Station.
More on the full menu and online ordering is at benjyehuda.com, where hours for each Chicago location are also posted.
