Kimchi Pop by Chef Son serves Korean comfort food at 939 N. Ashland Ave. in West Town, under the banner “Chicago’s Homestyle Korean Kitchen.” It’s one of four Kimchi Pop locations in the city, with additional spots in Uptown, Rogers Park and Lincoln Square.
The menu runs through home-style Korean dishes: bibimbap topped with a fried egg, beef and julienned vegetables over rice; a bubbling pot of sliced rice cakes in red chile sauce; mandu dumplings; fresh kimchi; kimbap rolls; and soups and stews served in traditional stone and metal pots, alongside steamed rice.
Kimchi Pop by Chef Son is open for dine-in and takeout Monday through Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., and weekends from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
