Jarvis Square Tavern Anchors Rogers Park’s Jarvis Square with Craft Beer and Live Music

Jarvis Square Tavern sits at 1502 W. Jarvis Ave., anchoring the small commercial strip in Rogers Park known as Jarvis Square. The bar pours 16 taps of local craft beer, with an emphasis on minority-owned breweries, alongside bottles, cans, wine and a full bar.

The cocktail list includes an Old Fashioned, a Paloma, a Paper Plane, a Last Word and a Bitter Italian, plus margaritas built around peach and spicy passionfruit and a Cranberry Spritz. A non-alcoholic Little Red Wagon and THC-infused drink options are also on the menu, and beer is available to go.

Live music plays once or twice a month, and Wednesday nights bring Jarvis SquEAR, an open mic from 8 to 11 p.m. The tavern also has a pool table and hosts private parties. According to its website, the space has a history as one of the earliest gay bars in Chicago.

Jarvis Square Tavern is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday from noon to 2 a.m. and Sunday from noon to midnight, with happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Hours and the full menu are posted at jarvissquaretavern.com.
