News Chicago
Flatts & Sharpe Music Co. is a music shop and school at 6749 N. Sheridan Road in Rogers Park. The storefront sign promises “instruments, lessons, repairs, sheet music,” and the shop does all four.
Private lessons are offered in piano, guitar and ukulele, voice, drums and percussion, violin and viola, bass, woodwinds, brass and folk instruments, with online lessons too. There is also an all-ages rock band class, twice-yearly student recitals and performance opportunities for adults.
The shop rents instruments to school band and orchestra students as well as non-student musicians, repairs brass, woodwind, double bass and other instruments, and sells sheet music and vintage gear. A second location operates in Norwood Park. Details on all of it are on the Rogers Park page of the shop’s website.
The Rogers Park shop lists hours of noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 6 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Call (773) 465-5233 or check the website for lessons, rentals and current hours.
