Babe’s on Milwaukee, a neighborhood bar at 4416 N Milwaukee Ave in Portage Park, is open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. (3 a.m. on Saturdays). The bar pours 11 taps of beer alongside whiskey, classic cocktails like the Old Fashioned, wine by the glass or bottle, and non-alcoholic options.
The kitchen makes custom pizzas, and regular specials include $4 Pabst Blue Ribbon drafts and $3.50 Old Style bottles and Hamm’s cans. The dog-friendly patio is open for warm-weather nights, and customers are welcome to bring their own food.
The building has poured drinks on Milwaukee Avenue since the 1940s, and Babe’s itself opened in 1986. Inside keeps a classic Chicago bar look — exposed brick, paneled walls, neon signs, stained glass and a Golden Tee arcade machine with its own following — plus eight screens for Cubs, White Sox, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks and Fire games.
