Bears’ Hurd due for bond hearing on drug charges

Bears receiver Sam Hurd is scheduled to return to court here this afternoon for a bond hearing on federal drug conspiracy charges.

Authorities plan to transfer Hurd to Dallas to face one count of conspiring to distribute half a kilogram of cocaine or more. Hurd played for the Cowboys before signing with the Bears in late July.

On Thursday, federal prosecutors outlined a case against the former Northern Illinois University star that presented him as scheming to push major quantities of cocaine and marijuana onto Chicago’s streets.
