ChaTraMue, the Thai tea brand that traces its roots to Bangkok in 1945, has opened its first Chicago shop at 1616 N. Damen Ave. in Bucktown, just north of the Damen, North and Milwaukee intersection.
The shop held a soft opening on Sept. 16 and a grand opening weekend Sept. 18 through 20. Its focus is the brand’s signature Original Thai Tea, the iced Thai milk tea ChaTraMue has sold under that name since 1945.
For October, the shop is offering a limited Halloween Duo: a two-tone drink of Thai tea and cocoa topped with panda boba. ChaTraMue first poured samples for Chicago at the city’s Thai Festival in 2025, before the Damen Avenue storefront opened. The brand’s history and packaged teas are on its official website.
The shop is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; current hours and seasonal drinks are posted on its Instagram, @chatramuechicago.
