FFC Union Station Opens HYROX Training Center, Launch Party Nov. 14

Fitness Formula Clubs has become an official HYROX affiliate and is opening what it calls Chicagoland’s largest HYROX training and race simulation center at FFC Union Station, 444 W. Jackson Blvd., directly above Union Station in the West Loop. The club will celebrate with a launch party that is open to the public on Saturday, Nov. 14.

HYROX is a fitness race that combines eight 1-kilometer runs with eight functional workout stations, and pro athletes and everyday competitors race the same format. Founded in Germany in 2017, it now holds races in more than 30 countries. HYROX Chicago takes place Feb. 11-15, 2027.

The new training center has official HYROX equipment, including HYROX turf and sleds across eight training lanes, plus 26 treadmills for the running portions of a race. FFC will host full and half HYROX race simulations every month, so athletes can practice pacing, transitions and race strategy before a real event. Certified HYROX coaches are on staff, and HYROX-style classes run throughout the week.

“We’re not simply introducing HYROX training at FFC—we’re creating a destination for it,” said Gale Landers, founder and CEO of Fitness Formula Clubs. “Our vision is to make FFC Union Station the premier place in Chicagoland to train, compete, recover, and connect with the HYROX community.”

“Chicago is an incredibly important market for HYROX, and as participation in fitness racing continues to grow, so does the demand for accessible, high-quality training opportunities,” said Eric O’Neil, HYROX’s head of affiliates for North America. “FFC Union Station is a fantastic example of that vision in action, creating a dedicated space where Chicago’s growing HYROX community can train, connect and prepare for their next race.”

The 72,000-square-foot club also has a Recovery Lounge, locker rooms with a hot tub, steam room and coed sauna, a full-service spa with massage, and the local’84 café. It is reachable by Metra and CTA, and drivers get two hours of free parking.

The Nov. 14 launch party will include HYROX race simulations, athlete meet-and-greets, partner activations, games and giveaways, with a chance to try the equipment and tour the space. Details are on FFC’s HYROX page.

FFC has been part of Chicago’s fitness scene for more than four decades and operates 10 Chicagoland locations.
