Hazar House Brings Central Asian and Middle Eastern Cooking to Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square

Hazar House, a restaurant serving Central Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine, is at 5047 N Lincoln Ave. The family-run dining room has ten tables, and its website describes the idea as a small place meant to feel like a home.

The name draws on the family’s Hazara heritage from Afghanistan; the other side of the family has Chechen roots in Grozny. The kitchen combines dishes from across that region.

The menu includes manty (steamed beef dumplings with yogurt sauce), Kabuli pulao with lamb, carrots and raisins, hand-pulled lagman noodles, pelmeni, borscht, chebureki and samsa, alongside chicken and beef shawarma plates and wraps, kebab combos and a slow-braised lamb shank. Desserts include honey cake and baklava. Most main courses are listed between $17.95 and $22.95.
