Hot Glizzys, a hot dog counter at 185 N. Franklin St. in the Loop, opened Oct. 2, serving Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef, smash burgers and loaded fries.
The menu centers on hot dogs the shop calls glizzys. The Chicago Style Glizzy comes on a poppy seed bun with mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, sport peppers and celery salt, and is $7.25. Other versions include a Maxwell St. Glizzy with caramelized onions, mustard and sport peppers; a Franklin St. Glizzy with Dijon mustard, grilled sauerkraut and caramelized onions; a Chili Cheese Glizzy; and a Cheeto Cheese Glizzy topped with melted cheddar, Cheetos and pickled jalapenos.
Beyond hot dogs, Hot Glizzys offers Italian beef and Italian sausage served dry, wet or dipped with hot giardiniera or sweet peppers, a Maxwell St. Polish, a lineup of smash burgers including a three-patty Cowboy Smash Burger, and fries cooked in beef tallow, including Ultimate Italian Loaded Fries topped with Italian beef, giardiniera, mozzarella and marinara.
