Osteria Gilberto is now open at 1224 W Webster Ave in Lincoln Park, describing itself as a modern Italian osteria rooted in tradition and inspired by Tuscany.
Pasta is made in house. The menu includes tagliatelle al ragù, spaghetti al pomodoro and the Lasagna di Gilberto, along with larger plates such as a bone-in veal cotoletta alla parmigiana and a short rib braised for six hours in red wine and served with saffron polenta and gremolata.
The wine list covers Italian regions from Tuscany to Piedmont, Veneto and Sicily, and the bar serves Italian aperitivi and cocktails. The restaurant is named after Gilberto, a man born in Livorno, Tuscany, and also hosts private events for groups of six or more.
