Park board to new colleague: Pay $330 for toilet tampering

Downers Grove Park Board officials Thursday asked commissioner-elect Mark Roman to pay $330 for allegedly tampering with a portable toilet near his home.

Roman, whose alleged conduct involving a portable park district toilet generated both a police report and extra work for park district employees, attended the meeting but did not comment on the request.

Before deciding to run for the park board, Roman was seen filling a portable toilet stationed at Washington Park with water, according to a police report. The toilet was filled and had to be cleaned out five times in September and October. Filling the toilet with water forced employees to clean it more frequently, reducing the odors and ultimately costing the park district about $330, officials said.
