Pete’s Produce operates a grocery store at 1543 E 87th St in the Avalon Park neighborhood, near 87th Street and Stony Island Avenue. The family-owned market, which calls itself “The Original” Pete’s Produce, also runs a second Chicago store at 87th and Loomis and a Dixmoor Market location, according to the company’s website.
The 87th Street store carries produce, a full-service butcher counter with beef, poultry, pork and fish, plus dairy, frozen foods and grocery staples. Produce is sourced locally when possible and delivered daily, the company says.
Pete’s Produce traces its roots to 1974 and says it’s now run by a third generation of the same family, built around personal service at the meat counter and a rotating selection of fresh produce.
Pete’s Produce at 1543 E 87th St is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Current hours and more information are available at petesproduce.com.
