Activists saddened and angered over the murder of Diego Damis a Cove lounge bartender and Italian immigrant; want to bring vigilance and offer monetary award to catch killer

Chicago, IL- A man named Diego Damis was robbed and stabbed to death Friday morning on a sidewalk in the Kenwood neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

Diego Damis, 41, was found with several stab wounds around 6 a.m. in the 4900 block of South Greenwood Avenue, according to police. Diego Damis an immigrant who became a beloved bartender at the Cove lounge after years frequenting the bar. He was a musician, painter, an avid chess player and a tiramisu expert according to his family.

Police found him unresponsive with multiple stab wounds and transported him to University of Chicago medical center where he was pronounced dead. No one is in custody as of yet.

On Wednesday, activists will stage a press conference at the Cove Lounge where Diego Damis worked bringing vigilance to the case. We will also offer a monetary reward with efforts to help capture the person or person’s responsible for this heinous crime.
