Tacotlán Express, a carryout counter at 4349 W. Fullerton Ave. in Hermosa, serves the birria and quesabirria tacos that built the Tacotlán name a few blocks away at 4312 W. Fullerton Ave.
The menu includes birria tacos, quesadillas and birria ramen, plus tortas filled with al pastor, chicken, chorizo, carne asada, birria or milanesa de pollo and served with a side of consommé for dipping. Through the first week of November, the location is also selling a pumpkin-shaped torta dyed orange with natural food coloring.
The original Tacotlán opened on Fullerton Avenue in 2018 and became known for introducing quesabirria to Chicago; the brand has since added a stand at Time Out Market Chicago in the West Loop. More on the menu is at tacotlan.com.
Tacotlán Express is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Mondays; call 773-666-5259 to check current hours and availability.
