Carlyle Club is now open on the ground floor of the Reid Murdoch Building at 316 N. Clark Street, the 1914 landmark on the north bank of the Chicago River. The dining room looks out at the water, and the patio sits on the Riverwalk.
The restaurant pairs a steakhouse with a sushi bar in one room: prime steaks cooked over an open flame at one end and a sushi counter at the other, plus pasta made in-house. The menu runs from steak frites au poivre, a wagyu burger and a French dip to nigiri and sashimi such as bluefin otoro, madai and king salmon toro, along with a chilled seafood tower and caviar service.
The wine program, led by Master Sommeliers Ken Fredrickson and Fernando Beteta, lists more than 2,000 bottles, with Champagne and sake alongside. The long marble bar serves a cocktail list built on riffs of classic drinks. For groups, there is a 20-seat private dining room, and the bar, the main dining room and the riverfront patio can also be booked, up to the whole floor.
Carlyle Club serves lunch daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., happy hour at the bar from 3 to 6 p.m., and dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Menus, reservations and current hours are on the Carlyle Club website, or call 312-701-1000.
