Verzênay Chicago, a French patisserie and bakery-cafe, occupies a storefront at 2507-2509 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park. The business got its start as a booth at the Green City Market, supplying wholesale to hotels such as The Drake, the Peninsula and Le Meridien, as well as local coffee shops and Whole Foods stores across Chicagoland. After opening this Lincoln Avenue location, where it is now marking five years in the neighborhood, it scaled back its wholesale operations to focus on the shop.
The menu spans croissants and other viennoiserie, cakes, chocolates and bonbons, cookies, bagels, breads, macarons, coffee and tea, alongside breakfast and lunch service. The shop also takes orders for catering platters and wedding cakes, and continues to sell at the Green City Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Chef Arshiya leads the kitchen, drawing on French pastry technique alongside Indian and Midwestern influences; the Chicago Mix macarons are among the shop’s signature items. More at verzenaychicago.com.
