Buddy Guy’s Legends has booked live blues at 700 S. Wabash Ave. in the South Loop since 1989, when Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Buddy Guy opened the club in a 1910 building. The room is decorated with guitars, photos and awards tied to the history of Chicago blues.
Live music runs Wednesday through Sunday. Wednesday and Thursday pair a free, all-ages acoustic set at 6 p.m. with a $15 main show at 9:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday add an opening band ahead of a headliner, with cover charges around $25; Sunday afternoons bring a free jazz set before a 9:30 p.m. blues show. Shows after 8 p.m. are 21 and up, seating is first-come, first-served, and the club does not take reservations.
The kitchen, open nightly until 11 p.m., serves Louisiana-style and veggie gumbo, catfish and shrimp po’boys, burgers including a blackened blues burger and a Beyond Meat option, several chicken sandwiches, Caesar and roadhouse salads, and sides like cornbread and fries, with key lime and pecan pie for dessert.
