Flying Saucer Keeps Brunch, Karaoke and Now Alcohol Going in Humboldt Park

Flying Saucer has served breakfast and lunch in Humboldt Park at 1123 N. California Ave. since 2000, mixing a DIY, 1950s-diner-inspired look with a menu built for vegans, vegetarians and carnivores alike.

The daytime menu runs from omelets, breakfast burritos, pancakes and French toast to salads, smash burgers, sandwiches and wraps, with a long list of items available vegan, including a vegan gyro wrap and the Saucer vegan kale salad. The kitchen also pours coffee drinks, fresh juices and craft sodas.

The diner has recently added alcohol service to go with its food menu, including Malort spritzes. Evenings at the California Avenue spot turn into a 21-and-over hangout with programming like the karaoke night Sauceroke and the Deep Space Drag Show.

Flying Saucer is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is cash only. Current hours and the full menu are posted at flyingsaucerchicago.com.
