Chicago, IL- An expressway shooting in Cook County sent one the hospital Wednesday morning, according to Illinois State Police. One person was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, state police said. The ramp was closed for an investigation and reopened around 9:50 a.m. Early Saturday morning a woman was shot on I 55 expressway and and was able to reach to the 2800 block of South Kostner in Little Village where she was sent in an ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Expressway shootings in Illinois have more than doubled every year for the last three years, ISP data shows, with 310 shootings total in 2021, compared to 147 in 2020 and 51 in 2019.

State police said anyone who witnessed the shooting or has any knowledge of it is asked to contact authorities at 847-931-2405, or email at ISP.CrimeTips. Witnesses can remain anonymous.

On Sunday morning, activists and attorney will spearhead a press conference demanding spot shooter surveillance cameras, more state police hired and harsher laws a nod sentences against those who commit shootings. We will also offer a reward for anyone who can give any information that leads to arrest of the shooter on i55 this morning.
