I love Westminster….but our own Chicago dog show is even better….We get pretty much the same quality of dogs as the famed NY show – but there's so much more for patrons to do in Chicago (and the giant pretzels don't cost as much).
You can watch agility competition, both earth dog and search and rescue dog demonstrations, as well as a Puppy Spectacular. Dog show legend Louis Auslander thought up the idea of a fun puppy show, and I dare anyone to watch and not say “oooooh” or “ahhhhhhhh.” Also, there are dozens of vendors, selling everything for your favorite breed – like Irish Setter dog collars to classic art work featuring the Brittany. You won't find this stuff at the pet superstores.
The International Kennel Club of Chicago Dog Show is February 26, 27 at McCormick Place. Tickets are amazingly reasonable, $14, $10 seniors (62 years and up) and kids under 12 are free.
