Rapper says his music will be a tool to reach people

Che “Rhymefest” Smith, a Chicago Grammy Award-winning rapper, announced Thursday that he will run for alderman of the 20th Ward to the sounds of cameras clicking. A lot of cameras.
Smith, 33, is no stranger to the limelight, and as he spoke of the issues facing his community — poverty, disenfranchisement, struggles of small-business owners — he waxed poetic.
“The definition of revolution is love,” he said.
