Anyone can become a part of the Monsanto Video Revolt announced by the Global Healing Center, Natural News and Natural Society, which have united to counter genetically modified Monsanto-produced crops and the overwhelming amount of poisonous herbicides and pesticides being dumped all over the world.
CHICAGO — A year after this city drew new attention for soaring gun violence and gang bloodshed, creating a political test for Mayor Rahm Emanuel in President Obama’s hometown, Chicago has witnessed a drop in shootings and crime. Killings this year have dipped to a level not seen since the early 1960s. Chicago Tactics Put Major Dent in Killing Trend
41 arrests were made in a crackdown of a West Side street gang known for violence against people who aid the police.
By Annie Sweeney and Jason Meisner Tribune reporters

The top leaders of one of Chicago’s most violent street gangs have been charged in a sweeping racketeering case that alleges they controlled their West Side drug empire through pattern of intimidation, kidnappings, shootings and murder dating back to the mid-1990s, according to an affidavit unsealed today in Cook County Criminal Court.
Before sunrise today, police armed with “no knock” search warrants fanned out across the Chicago area surprising dozens of leaders of the Black Souls, including Cornel Dawson, known as the gang’s chief, and Teron Odum, described as Dawson’s second-in-command. Also arrested were a number of “top runners” and “supervisors” who authorities say control the gang’s street operations.
The 78-page affidavit alleges the Black Souls ran an $11 million-a-year drug operation and protected the enterprise with violence that included at least seven murders from 1994 to 2012. In all, 23 members of the gang have been charged with racketeering conspiracy, while 18 more face state drug or weapons charges, authorities said.

Freon leak alternatives seem to be the question of the day for many home owners. Freon leaks especially R-22 HCFC refrigerants are a bigger issue then having no cool air in your home.
Freon leaks, why does this happen to my air conditioning system? Good question, Freon leaks can occur by friction of copper and aluminum, or copper and metal rubbing together.
During normal operation of an air conditioning system Freon is pumped through the copper piping. This occurs when the compressor is running and this creates a slight vibration.
The Chicago Sun-Times this week laid off all 28 of its staff photographers, and has reportedly begun training its remaining reporters on “iPhone photography basics.” Media journalist Robert Feder first reported the news in a post to his Facebook page Friday, citing an internal memo from Sun-Times managing editor Craig Newman.
“In the coming days and weeks, we’ll be working with all editorial employees to train and outfit you as much as possible to produce the content we need,” Newman wrote in the memo, which Feder published in full Saturday morning. Newman goes on to highlight key areas of focus, including iPhone photography, “video and basic editing,” and social media.
The paper cut its entire photography staff on Thursday, including Pulitzer Prize winner John H. White. In a statement, the Sun-Times said the move was part of a broader shift, as the company focuses more on video and digital multimedia. Going forward, the company will rely exclusively on freelance photographers — an approach that’s common in magazine publications, but rare among newspapers.
CIRCUS CIRCUS DEBUTS AT THE DEN THEATER IN CHICAGO PREMIERE JUNE 7 A Uniquely Contemporary Look at the State of American Prisons
Circus Circus takes place in a world within our world. One that society is barely aware of, and one in which, even if you’ve never been there, have heard stories about. You will gain access to this world through our main character, Robert, immersed deep within the system.
Circus Circus follows Robert as he is arrested for marijuana and sent to Circus Circus State Penitentiary. Through Robert you will be exposed to the loss, degradation, and chaos that he is faced with on a daily basis, under the tight control of the spectacularly extravagant and wonderfully sinister, Warden Gordon. He allows you access because like any good ringmaster, Warden Gordon enjoys showing off. Robert sits patiently, locked up alongside violent offenders, child molesters, and rapists. Some of these offenders even have a shorter prison sentence than him, and it’s all because he was arrested for marijuana. This is the crux of the piece. The characters negotiate this tension, struggling against the realization that a non-violent offense may receive more time than a violent crime. The play explores what happens every day, though few understand its pervasiveness in the prison system. Every day this continues, our prison system continues to become over-crowded with non-violent marijuana offenders.
This is not a political, soap-box preaching, prison play or one heralding marijuana. This is Circus Circus. Based entirely on a true story, what makes this story even more compelling is how the story is told. Original music and video imagery complements the strong performances by writer Eric Welch, Robert Hatfield, Amber Hargroder. Marcus Funches, Craig James Jr., and Sean Childress. This talented group is joined by Inappropriate Theater Company members Jordan Shomer, Margaret Cook, Jaci Kay and Joey Galizia round out the cast in Chicago director’s George Robert Bailey’s first Chicago production.
This idiosyncratic and impressive Chicago debut premieres June 7th and will continue to run June 8th-9th, as well as the 14th-16th. The theater will host 7:30 p.m. showtimes and 3 p.m. matinees. Tickets may be purchased at the door or online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/369755.
Critics and fans are already buzzing about Circus Circus. Yale University Professor and Alumni Sarah Lasley say’s “Circus Circus is entertaining, honest, and raw. It’s a one-of-a-kind play.” Like a true circus, the ladies and gentleman of Circus Circus have prepared a night full of entertainment, promising to dazzle, titillate, and captivate the audience. Are you going to the Circus?

May 12, 2013 (CHICAGO) — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel plans on seeking re-election in 2015 and says he’s not seeking higher office.
The former White House chief of staff told the Chicago Sun-Times he’d support a presidential run of either Vice President Joe Biden or former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, but he’s not going anywhere. Emanuel took office in 2011 and says if he wins a second term he’ll serve it out.
Emanuel says one of the frustrations has been changing Chicago’s culture to one of accountability.

By Cynthia Dizikes and Todd Lighty, Chicago Tribune reporters 11:50 a.m. CDT, April 28, 2013
J.F.’s marriage was crumbling in 2010, but he didn’t want that public.
J.F. is a well-known Chicago politician, and when he and his wife ended up in divorce court, he asked that their names be kept secret to avoid a “media frenzy.”
Despite a rich tradition of openness in the U.S. court system, a Cook County judge allowed the couple to hash out the divorce privately, using just their initials: J.F. and K.F., case number 2010-D-3922.
